The Reverse Hammer is two essential products for your home gym - Reverse Back Extension & Glute Ham Developer (GHD) - combined into one, at a fraction of the cost (and space) of separate machines. The fusion of the Reverse Back Extension machine and Glute Ham Developer (GHD) is a Bells of Steel original design and was engineered in-house.
The Reverse Back Extension is an excellent movement for the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings because it allows one to train the whole of the posterior chain in a way that is very similar to the deadlift, but without actually loading up the spine. This makes the Reverse Back Extension the perfect movement for athletes with a pre-existing low back issue or those who want to give their lower back a break without missing a training session.
Meanwhile, the Glute Ham Raise is an incredibly useful exercise for isolating the hamstrings and the glutes, increasing hypertrophy to these two essential muscle groups. It's also believed to be superior to the leg curl because it works more muscles and puts a greater emphasis on the eccentric component of knee flexion. Increased time under tension, a more complete range of motion, and the ability to add resistance with bands or weight plates make for a very targeted approach to hamstring and glute development that will carry over to your heavy squats, deadlifts, and your explosiveness on the playing field.
It features a vertically adjustable footplate/foot roller carriage that accommodates users of any height. The diamond-plate platforms facilitate stepping up into the GHD, with a removable crotch pad so the fellas don’t damage the goods. Side handles make getting in and out easier, and extra padding over the curved part of the pad for more comfortable reverse back extensions. Add cable attachments and resistance bands for upper body work and build lower body strength, power, and explosiveness without putting your spine through a heavy-duty stress test.

The machine is a beast and functions flawlessly. FEDEX beat the heck out of the boxes and while a few pieces were damaged, BOS customer service was quick to send out replacement parts and worked with us through the whole process. Love this machine and I highly recommend it if you have the space.

The Reverse Hammer has been one of the greatest and most versatile pieces of equipment that we’ve added to our gym. After years of powerlifting and training through injuries we finally have something that builds strength in some of our more vulnerable positions and helps to strengthen and prevent injuries. I love this thing. We’ve been programming at least one movement using the reverse hyper into every training session. Killer build quality, great looking piece of gear, and wildly functional to have in any gym setting.

I had an overall good experience with purchasing the Reverse Hammer from BOS. My opinion is that this is the best bang-for-your-buck when looking a combo machine such as this. The quality of the machine has met my expectations. Shipping was quick. Packaging was great, which is good because UPS was very rough with the boxes (as you can see in my pictures). The video instructions were okay, but I had to be very careful not to mix up bolts. Fortunately, I only got confused with one part of the assembly process. Assembly, with only me working on it alone, took a total of about 1.5 hours.
My favorite part of the machine so far is the reverse hyperextensions. I was able to make adjustments to the handle and belt so that it feels perfect for me. Before the Reverse Hammer, I was using a fold-up reverse hyper that was a bit unstable, so this is a huge upgrade. This machine is a beast and doesn't budge. Reverse hypers on the Reverse Hammer do exactly what I need them to do (keeps my lower back feeling healthy while feeling completely stable doing the movement).
I've not used the GHD function much yet, but the movement feels like it did on my stand alone GHD that I had before. I've seen others saying the padding could be better. I agree that it's not as comfortable as my standalone GHD, but so far it's not a deal breaker for me. The advantages of this combo unit outweight the disadvantages such as this one.

I highly recommend to watch the BoS build video to assist with the instructions.
Other than that if you’ve got the budget and are between this and just the GHD, and can swing it, no pun intended, get this!
