Weight is weight, right? But what if I told you your sloppy, 45lb plates you got for your 16th birthday from the local big box store were lying to you? The process of casting molten hot iron into moulds can be fickle.
Machined iron plates are cast in a specialty casting factory with over 40 years of experience, then finished on a lathe that shaves off excessive weight from the back of the plate, followed by polishing and machining edges for an even smoother, more aesthetic plate.
The machined plates have a guaranteed tolerance of +/- 1% for 45, 35, and 25 and +/- 3% for 15, 10, 5, and 2.5. But we don't stop there; the holes of the plates are cast smaller than the Olympic bar sleeve diameter of 2 inch/50mm to start, then are drilled out with a guaranteed precision hole fit of 50.5mm +.4mm tolerance, meaning your plates fit snug and erect on your bar. Finally, these beauties are 20% slimmer than other weight plates to fit more on your barbell.

I bought 4 of these plates. They arrived promptly and well packaged. The plates look great. The weights of these plates are very accurate. These plates will be used for my dumbbells. In fact, I like these plates so much I have already placed another order for more of them. Great job Bells of Steel!

Love the classic look and design of these plates. Nothing quite beats the sound of steel plates sliding together.
The fit and finish on these have been just ok, not amazing, but machined plates are harder to come by in Canada and at the end of the day it’s a steel disc that’s accurate and looks cool. Supporting a local business and saving hundreds of dollars in shipping by being able to pick them up myself makes up for any minor visual flaws imo.

Ordered a couple pairs of 45's. They arrived with uneven hammertone finish and several scratches on the backs of plates. Otherwise weight was accurate and plates are nice to handle. Would likely only buy them on sale in the future.

I ordered 2 pairs of 25lb plates and one pair of 10s, and they're all within the 1% tolerance. I give them 5 stars on that front. One of the 10lb plates has a small manufacturing defect, but it's no big deal. The 2 25lb pairs shipped separately, and they both arrived in pretty beat up packaging. The first package was literally falling apart. The second was just beat up and tearing. 3 of the 4 25s ended up with chipping from the rough delivery. I'm overall very happy with them, but i have to withhold a star for all of the chipping. It's unclear if this was UPS's fault or if they just needed better packaging.

I’ve slowly been upgrading my home gym to bells of steel products because of the quality and my gym is in my home so we need it to look good! So far I’ve upgraded my plates to 490lbs of the grey machined plates, the FID bench and the 50-100-150-200lb sand bags and everything has been amazing! It’s also nice supporting a Canadian company instead of marketplace scalpers. Next on the list is a new bar and rack
